Unveils Beautiful Set of Stamps that Shows off Some of Britain's Most Famous
Landmarks
They are some of Britain's most
beloved landmarks, drawing tourists from around the world.
So it is only apt that they
are being honoured with an exclusive set of Royal Mail stamps.
The new range of 26 first class stamps shows off sights including the front door of Number 10 Downing Street, the Angel of the North in Gateshead and Blackpool Tower.

Prime Minister David Cameron was especially pleased to help launch the new set.

Number 10, the home of British prime ministers since
1735, he said: 'The UK has
some of the most beautiful landscapes and fascinating heritage, things that we
can all be incredibly proud of.
'I am delighted to see some of
our most loved landmarks on these stamps, celebrating much that is great about
our country.
'Seeing the front door of Number 10 featured on a stamp is of course particularly special.'

The Royal Mail's Special Stamps A to Z programme will initially feature landmarks from A to L, starting alphabetically with the Angel of the North in Gateshead, and Carrick-a-Rede in Northern Ireland, the Forth Railway Bridge in Scotland and Harlech Castle in Wales, among others.
Moya Greene, Royal Mail chief
executive, said: 'The UK A to Z Special Stamps celebrate some of the country's
best loved landmarks. It is fitting that the world famous front door of 10
Downing Street is represented, for the first time, in this Special Stamp
issue.'
The new stamps will be issued
from Thursday with a second series, covering letters M to Z, issued in April
2012.
